Electoral connection
One of the Biggest things that happened near Peter Kings district was Amazon pulling out of the deal for them to build their new headquarters in Long Island city, Queens. While the headquarters wouldn't have been in his district it would have been in close proximity giving hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs to his constituents. Amazon left due to pressure from people in the community and politicians, claiming that it was a bad deal for New Yorkers. Rep. Pete King has made multiple tweets blaming the disaster on Progressive Democrats, and more specifically Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This is an example of position taking because he is saying he supports Amazon coming to New York.

One of the bills he has sponsored recently was to renew the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. This is to help the first responders and victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack with any health effects they may have as a result of the attack. This is an example of Credit Claiming because he is showing the people of his district how he is trying to help 9/11 victims.

On February 12th Rep. Peter King released a statement saying that the boarder deal is far from perfect but that it is a step in the right direction. He said that we should accept that we have a divided government and avoid another government shutdown. This statement was most likely directed at congressional republicans and President Trump. This is him taking a position that the boarder deal is not worth another government shutdown.

On February 18 Rep. Peter King attended the wake of murdered police detective Brain Simpson. He died in a tragic friendly fire accident. This is an example of Advertising because he is not taking a position on any particular issue. He is showing his face at an important time for his community.
