2018 Issues.
The major issues focused mainly around President Trump and Peter Kings support of him. King did endorse Trump during the republican primary. King's opponent Liuba Shirley led protests against Trumps Muslim travel ban in front of King's office in early 2017.(Long Island Press) This plus Kings place on the homeland security committee means that major issues of the election were immigration and terrorism.

2020
Nobody has announced for the democratic primary
King hasn't faced a republican challenger in a primary since he was first elected to the house of representatives in 1992.

2020 prediction
The democrats will likely see this as a seat that they could gain in 2020, just like they did in 2018. The district does tend democratic for registration numbers. Despite this I predict that Peter King will be reelected. He has always won safely even in years that were good for democrats.
