• New York Army National Guard 1968-1974 
• Deputy Attorney for Nassau County 1972-1974
•  Hampstead, New York Town Council 1977-1981
• Nassau County Comptroller 1981-1993
• United States Congressman for New York's 2nd district 1993-present

• Member of the Homeland Security Committee 
• Chairman of the sub-committee on counterterrorism and intelligence 
• Member of the Financial Services Committee
• Served as Chair of the Homeland Security Committee 2005-2006 and 2011-2012

Major issues/accomplishments:

• He has been a very big proponent in the fight against terrorism at home and abroad. 
•  Controversially, as chairman of the homeland security committee representative King held hearings on the radicalization of Muslims in America. 
• Helped secure $60.4 billion in emergency funding following hurricane sandy. 
• Despite being republican he is also in favor of stricter gun control regulations. 
• Supports Animal welfare, getting a 100% from the Humane society in 2015
• Member of the bipartisan autism caucus.  
  

Fun Facts: 

• Daughter Serves on the Town Council for Hampstead, New York.
• He has also received the AARP’s Legislative Leadership Award for combating elder abuse and exploitation.
• King was ranked as the most bipartisan member of the U.S. House of Representatives during the 114th United States Congress in the Bipartisan Index created by The Lugar Center and the McCourt School of Public Policy
•  King was one of five Republican congressmembers from New York who voted against the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
• Despite his hardline stance on radical Islamic terrorism he has been known to sympathize with the Irish Republican army(IRA). He has compared Gerry Adams, leader of Sinn Fein, the IRA's political wing, to George Washington.
