- King was one of five Republican congressmembers from New York who voted against the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
- Despite his hardline stance on radical Islamic terrorism he has been known to sympathize with the Irish Republican army(IRA). He has compared Gerry Adams, leader of Sinn Fein, the IRA's political wing, to George Washington.
